October, 2004: Due to some people (correction, one person who couldn't stop bashing my opinions), I have chosen to make my journal friends only. Most of you are on the Friends list, so don't worry.

February 15, 2006: I am currently not taking any new friends, in theory, but I may make an exception.

June 10, 2006: Re-opening friends P.S. If you need to contact me, feel free to email me at Chargrey@livejournal.com

In my life, I've seen snow twice and sleet three times. Today is my third sleet day. The thing is, the last time it snowed on Christmas Day 2004, the following year brought three hurricanes to the state, random tornadoes, and an earthquake. I looked back on the rare white Christmas as God's way of saying "Enjoy this now, because next year is going to blow."

Thanks Liz.

So there was a point when we were still losing last night's game where Kayce decided to sit closer to the TV, saying something would happen if it did. Ha ha. Well, the picture kept freezing, modern technology is a bitch. So, it went from Tennessee throwing the ball at the line and then froze until all of sudden one of our players was running for the goal. Awesome. That was the most cheering and screaming I've ever seen at a game party. I literally had trouble catching my breath for the next five minutes, and I was light headed for the next ten.

Geaux Tigers!

Oh, my gosh! This is one of my favorite Daily Show skits ever, and I've been looking for it for a long time. Now, if only I could find Colbert's Dan Rather allegory, it'd be perfect.

I might be going to the LSU vs Ole Miss game! Yay! I haven't gone to an LSU game in three years, and I've never gone to an away game. This should be awesome. I just need them to announce the game time to confirm it.

My mom had to use my car today to go to work which left me stranded here. I really need to figure out my dining table and futon soon. On the bright side, I got my park tickets for Disney World. It's so cute. It's got Mr. Incredible, Dash, and Jack-Jack on the Astro-Orbiter with the Magic Kingdom as a grey blur in the background. It says "Where the incredible happens every day." I can't wait.

Why did I not have the forethought to schedule myself off for Emmy night? I mean, there's the red carpet, the awards show, and post show. Luckily, the DVR was able to cover the show, although, how I'm going to be able to record it to my DVD is still up for some electronic juggling. Those chairs looked non-fancy and uncomfortable at the show, though. I wonder what everyone thought of them.

I wish that The Colbert Report would have won because it really is the funniest thing on TV. I suppose that it seems more mature to pick The Daily Show, but it hasn't been as good since Carrell, Colbert, and Helms left. :( Oh, but the jumping and hugging that Jon, Stephen, and Steve did at the show was probably one of the best things ever. ;)

And Marcia and Felicity were lovely, as usual. Oh, how I missed Marcia Cross after a year and a half of no awards show attendances.

Oh, and all of these sports media guys need to get off of their hard-ons for the fricking USC Trojans. Really. Geaux Tigers!!!

If there are one or more people on your friends list who make your world a better place just because they exist, and who you would not have met (in real life or not) without the Internet, then post this same sentence in your journal. ♥

Dear Lucas and Spielberg,

Please do not ruin a great set of movies by making a crappy sequel. I beg of you. Do it right or don't do it at all.

Some hopes:
Using Shia, a guy I liked before he made it big:Shia and Harrison )

And, bringing back the original, least-annoying, most hardened girl from the best of the movies:
Karen Allen )

Seriously, don't screw it up.

"...one suspects that if Obi-Wan had given Leia a lightsaber and sent her after Vader, the saga would have been over by Cloud City." -Empire Magazine

I went to the circus with Carly on Saturday after work and to the mall. I didn't go to sleep until about 6:30 that night; I wanted to enjoy as much of my day off as possible, since after these four days, I've got a series of working a few days and off for only one day (which isn't really a full day at all). I went to Old Navy to find new jeans, and the woman's section only had about 10 on a rack. !!?? What's that about? Old Navy always has jeans, each sex/age-range has a shelf-wall full of them all year round. Yesterday, Lori invited me to go to see 1408 with her and Blake. It was pretty good; I'm surprised they got so much out of a 40 page story.

I have to figure what's going on with my credit score b/c it's dropped twice in the last 2 months, and the reasons they're giving me are the same things they're telling me won't affect it. Arg. I want it to stay good so that I can get a car in a couple of months.

I tried out one of those online IQ tests, and, while I'm not sure of the accuracy, I got a 131, which, apparantly, is the lower end of "gifted" and still one point away from Mensa-level. Don't know about that, though.

So, I went to Barnes and Noble today and found EW's 100 list for the year (including my baby, Stepehen, Heroes people, BSG people, Shia, and a few other coolies) and Miley Cyrus on People Magazine. Yes, I just started watching Hannah Montana, and I heart that show very much.

Oh, my goodness. I need to get HBO, like now. Because Big Love starts again on Monday. The only catch is that I have to watch it in my parents room. It's worth it.

Oh, these work weekends are killing me, especially since I increased my gym time to an additional half hour on the bike and arm weights. Between work, sleep, the gym, and church, I have minimal time to be lazy people. :( I was really tired this morning, though. I had to focus on driving because I knew I'd been sleepy towards the end of the shift. I'd gone in early yesterday because one of the ladies needed to leave a couple hours early (it was my day shift preceptor, and she'd done her best to make sure I had as little to do for the rest of her shift as possible). Hopefully, the weekends will be a tiny bit easier when I decrease the bike time if I can lose some weight. I saw some pictures of myself, and they weren't bad, but I really do need to lose some weight still. The problem is, I have a giant head and face, and I don't think losing weight will help that other unaesthetic factor, might make it worse. ::sigh::

I had a nice day, otherwise. I visited Kayce for 20 minutes of her birthday and got some good Chinese food. I tried going to Blenk to get my transcripts, but they had closed early (even though the lady who could have gotten me the transcripts was right in the office). I wish that they'd be more accommodating. When I applied to work at Meadowcrest, my employment was held up by 2 weeks because they couldn't reach the high school to prove I'd graduated (and, I had a difficult time with my diploma seeing as it's laminated on the board they gave me). What if another place or grad school wants my high school records? I'm so sure that the new school won't know what they're doing.

I went to Starbucks on Thursday because Mrs. Bachman was in town, and I hadn't seen her since graduation five years ago. It was great catching up. Brigid was there too, and I hadn't seen her since Kelli's wedding. And, oddly, Sarah Sosebee was working there, and I really haven't seen her in a long time, yet again, odd.

So, I decided to take advantage of the fact that my gym is across the street from the library, and I pass it everyday. Although, I used it today to borrow movies instead of books. I was browsing through the movies and came across Charade which I've heard Carly mention several times. I ended up also picking out North by Northwest. It's Cary Grant night, apparently.

Dear Marcia Cross/Bree Van de Kamp Hodge,
Thank you for reminding me that I used to enjoy watching Desperate Housewives a lot more than I have these past few months. :)

I made some icons for the first time in a month. They're from the Desperate Housewives finale, but I'm waiting to post them. I want to make some Bree/Rex icons to balance them out, and I also have some Disney icons that I made and haven't posted yet, but I have to pull out and connect my other hard drive to get them.

I was all excited because I finally figured out how to get myself on a good and predictable schedule at work, and they totally ignored my requests, even though it looked like they initially fit with the staffing numbers. So, this next month doesn't look like much fun. I'm just tired of feeling like I miss so many fun events and outings.

I'm bored. That's all.

"She's back! Hot girl's back!" -Sarah quoting Joey Tribianni [17 May 2007|08:57pm]
So, I'm debating on what to do tomorrow. I know that I most definitely have to go to the gym, and I will probably get my brake tag replaced, but, after that, I'm not sure. Part of me wants to go shopping, but the question is where. I know that I want to get some Clinique make-up again, but I'm debating on which Dillards to go to, the one at Oakwood, Lakeside or Esplenade. If I go to Oakwood, I can't do any other shopping (for those of you who don't know, our mall is being remodeled after having been burnt down by people who crossed the bridge after the hurricane). Lakeside has several shops that I'd like to try (Dillards, VS, Body Shop, JC Penny's), but Esplanade has all of those and more clothing shops as well (it's just so much farther away). Decisions. And, then, there is the debate on if I want to go shopping at all. I just got off of soft drinks and have been trying to eat healthier for the past two weeks (in addition to upping my exercise by going to the gym instead of riding around the neighborhood), so I want to try on clothes when I feel I look more tone.

Did I just have an entire paragraph devoted to shopping?

One of my patient's drew me a Tweety bird picture with my name on it. It was really amazingly drawn and colored. I felt so amazed. I'll bring a scan of it later, but, I had to put it in my locker so I could stake a claim on it before someone else did.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to this weekend. Last weekend was really fun, but I knew that I had to squeeze in a lot of events and work to squeeze in. !!!

There is something awesome about being Catholic in this area of the country (heck, even the world, sometimes), and today illustrated it. It was the usual Good Friday crawfish boil with my family. There are certain traditions/events that Catholics take on, that mostly culminate in this time of year around here. There is the Mardi Gras celebration, followed by the feast days of St. Patrick and St. Joseph (full of food and often reveled in b/c many consider these as days which Lenten sacrifices can be put on hold), and, of course, Easter weekend (full of lots and lots of seafood). Here we have awesome seafood and even more awesome seasons (with the crawfish, we often have crabs, shrimp, new potatoes, corn, mushrooms and sausage thrown in to the seasonings, creating awesome food flavors). There is the heavy population of Irish and Italian descendants (thanks for which is the celebrations of St. Patrick and St. Joseph, respectively) which produce the partying and great cooking that make most of such celebrations worth it. There is the freedom of drinking here. There are no separate liquor stores, everything is sold in the regular grocery. There are no limitations on the sale of such items b/c of the time or b/c it's a Sunday (I find such laws somewhat odd, as if restricting people from buying at certain times will prevent them from drinking, period). And, b/c it's so prevalent and easy, there are good and bad consequences. First, people aren't so excessively eager and shocked to be getting alcohol when they enter college parties and frats, but, on the other hand, we aren't as quick to see alcoholic effects in people, thinking it more normal to drink, here (something I learned from both clinical stints and TV shows where I, myself, wasn't so quick to judge that a person was alcoholic).

I got to go out last night for my friend's birthday, and I had an awesome time. And everyone enjoyed my shirt, although Liz and Lori kept putting things down my cleavage. Odd. Oh, and, even better, the white parts of the dress glowed in the dance floor's black lights. Ahhh!

Oh, and now I am worried? Why? Well, Christmas 2004, it snowed here. Snow. We hadn't had snow since the 1980s, let alone on Christmas. The following year, the hurricane hit (plus, in that one year time span, there were tornadoes and an earthquake here), so I began to take that snow as an ominous sign that things were to come (Enjoy this now, b/c later on, it'll be hell.) Right now, in April, it is sleeting outside my house. What the heck? I live on the east side of the canal, the part that's not fortified well enough. I need at least another year to be safe on this side.

. . . and if I die today, that's the man I'll be. [25 Mar 2007|10:02pm]
Okay, I'm not going to give away any spoilers for Battlestar Galactica tonight, but I had to say a few things.

First off, I think Jamie Bamber is an absolutely beautiful piece of eye candy that I don't mind snacking on, but if I have to hear him do another moral speech, I will need to kick that candy.

Now, that I've gotten that part out of the way, the last few minutes was like a crazy head trip, and, even though I couldn't see what might have been on the screen, text wise, I guessed that ending, the moment it started drawing attention. But, it was still awesome!

And, now, I have to wait until 2008. That's right, not Fall, but 2008. Arg! Let's hope some Big Love (which is looking less and less likely like I'll be able to get HBO for the new season), Weeds, and Dexter new season episodes will fill in the gap.
